The Berchtesgaden Salt Mine

The old salt mine lies in the Berchtesgaden Alps. The mine train goes 650 meters into the mountain. The tour of the mine takes an hour.

The salt mine was opened in 1517, over 500 years salt was continuously mined here and today pure Alpine brine is still obtained here, which is then further processed into the high-quality Bad Reichenhaller AlpenSalz.

After an impressive spectacle of light in the Salt Cathedral you slide over a 34-meter-long wooden slide further into the salt mines. The Mirror Lake, which lies 130 meters below the surface of the day and the ride on a raft over the salt lake are another incredible experience! The reflection of the ceiling on the surface of the Mirror Lake is really an awesome sight!

The famous Königssee is only 7 km away from the salt mine.
